Job Purpose

Responsible for leading the Issues Management function to support ALSAC fundraising and awareness activities and help drive key brand objectives. This includes leading a team and working with multiple teams in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Media, Executive Communications, Development, Finance and Donor Services to identify key issues and activities that affect the St. Jude Brand and monitoring, analyzing and reporting on those issues/activities on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis. Advises on and supports strategic organizational issues management needs. Leads development process for and maintains issues management materials and regularly reports to leadership on results of efforts. 

Requirements

  • Requires thorough knowledge of digital environments and platforms, communications or public relations
  • Excellent knowledge in marketing, branding, media, reputation and issues management
  • Knowledgeable with AP style of writing
  • Ability to speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal and external audiences
  • Thorough knowledge of English spelling, grammar and usage and ability to understand complex verbal or written instructions
  • Requires the ability to follow, understand and analyze news and events important to the organization, and determine trends and potential consequences, risks and/or opportunities for the organization based on analysis
  • Must be able to prepare written communications and resolve questions/issues in copy
  • Excellent attention to detail and adherence to deadlines required. Must understand word processing, presentation and analytics applications, including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Requires knowledge ordinarily acquired through a bachelor's degree in disciplines ideally including public relations, journalism, communications or related discipline and 10-15 years or more of professional experience
