Job Purpose

Oversees the people associated with software development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of applications.  Manages Software Engineers, Business Analysts, System Analysts and other technical team members related to software platforms assigned to multiple product teams.  Responsibilities include hiring, writing performance appraisals and handling day to day performance issues of team members.  Requires familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the software engineering field and have working knowledge of current and trending applications, programing languages, and development tools. Responsible for career path and development plans to encourage long term growth for employees. Approval of education and training opportunities including management of training budget.  


  • Understanding of software engineering principles and techniques
  • Proficiency with web servers
  • Open source frameworks, Windows, Java, JDBC, Java Script, JSP, PL/SQL, XML, UNIX Shell Scripting, Apache, Oracle, Weblogic; ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Knowledge of hardware, software and firewall set up
  • Knowledge of technology skills
  • Ability to interact well with team members
  • Team oriented
  • Passionate about developing others’s skills and capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Deep understanding of agile development processes and methodology
  • Knowledge of Agile Engineering and development including Continuous Integration and Delivery practices
  • Requires knowledge ordinarily acquired through a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 6+ years of experience in information technology and 2+ years management experience
