Job Purpose

Responsible for providing leadership that ensures the stability, integrity, efficient and predictable operation of the enterprise database technology that supports core organizational functions. Leads the design, implementation and optimization of all database systems. Responsible for applying proven technical, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve complex issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT database infrastructure investments. Provides best practices for technical database design, development and support, as well as leadership efforts with DBA's to provide a reliable and scalable environment for development and production. Works with senior engineers of many different disciplines to design database and system architecture. 


  • 12 + years experience with most modern database systems including SQL Server 2008 - 2014, Oracle 10+, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  • Strong T-SQL skills are required
  • Understands Enterprise-Class Database products, architecture and lifecycle around those products to support highly transactional environments and data driven methodologies - Technologies such as Microsoft SQL (Primary stack), Oracle, Data Management, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and Hosted Environments, etc.
  • Experience in SSIS, SSRS, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server required. Experience with C#, ASP.NET, and VMWare is desired
  • Prioritization of day-to-day activities, long-term project-oriented tasks and proactive strategic planning is essential
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in technical role
  • 10 + years of experience in technical operations (deployment, implementation, integration, and/or administration) in a modern database environment
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
