A User Interface Developer is a member of the User Experience team, part of the Digital group at ALSAC, and thrives in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.

Job Purpose

The User Interface Developer focuses on user-centered design practices and takes primary responsibility for the visual design, interaction design, and user interface design and development and provides support to ALSAC and St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. The position works collaboratively across every team including our engineering, product and marketing teams as well as internal business partners in the organizations.

This position concentrates on building, maintaining and iterating web based digital products in support of the interactive group’s focus areas. Takes an active role in the planning of design work in agile ceremonies and contribute in peer-reviews of other designers work.


  • Ability to think creatively and provide marketable solutions in conceiving, developing, and producing digital products.
  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles and practices.
  • Can comfortably lead collaborative design sessions with contributors from multiple disciplines.
  • Knowledgeable of development methodologies especially related to front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of Sass and Angular is a plus.
  • Experience in brand development and visual style guides.
  • Experience in creative review and critique, and ability to clearly articulate design principles and give constructive assessments. 
  • Ability to interact well with team members and business users.
  • Excellent project management skills and excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience and comfort presenting and defending creative concepts and digital products to business partners, management and senior executives.
  • Keen business sense, able to guide and adapt the expression of our company brand in a variety of contexts including our site, mobile products, email and digital marketing materials. 
  • Demonstrated complete understanding of:  Color theory and color relationships; Typographic systems as they apply to a brand system; Page composition and grid structures; Photography and the photographic process.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in design related field of study or equivalent experience in related field and at least 3-5 years experience as an interactive designer or UI developer.  
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
